Analytical Center Research Team Wins Best Paper and Best Research Poster at 4th ISST 2024
The 4th International Seminar of Science and Technology (ISST) 2024 was successfully held at the Universitas Terbuka Convention Center, bringing together researchers, academics, and professionals from various scientific disciplines. This year's event featured distinguished keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Faiz Syu’aib, M.Agr., Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service at the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Organized under the leadership of Dr. Pepi Rospina Pertiwi, M.Si., ISST 2024 also welcomed plenary speakers from both Indonesia and abroad. The first plenary session was led by Dr. Yuri Bukhman (USA) and Dr. Pismia Sylvi, M.Si. (Indonesia), moderated by Fawzi Rahmadiyan Zuhairi, S.Si., M.Sc.. The second session, moderated by Erika Pradana Putri, S.T., M.Sc., featured presentations by Mr. George Xu (PT. Huasan Teknologi Indonesia) and Prof. Paul Burton (Australia).
This year’s ISST was not only attended by students, lecturers, and researchers in science and technology but also attracted participants from management and education backgrounds. A total of 102 presenters shared their research findings, divided into seven on-site sessions and nine online sessions. The conference revolved around three sub-themes:
- Collaborative Contribution in Environmental Science to Achieve Sustainable Living
- Role of Agricultural Science for Sustainable Food Production
- Technological Innovations in Natural Science for Sustainable Environment
A highlight of the event was the Sanghiang Perkasa research team, whose project titled "Characterization and Application of Distillation Byproduct from Kjeldahl Protein Testing as a Liquid Medium for Air Pollution Control" won both the Best Paper Award and Best Research Poster Award. This project was presented under the subcategory Collaborative Contribution in Environmental Science to Achieve Sustainable Living.
The research explored the innovative reuse of distillation byproducts from Kjeldahl protein analysis, demonstrating its potential application in air pollution control. By repurposing this byproduct as a liquid medium, the study not only proposed a sustainable waste management approach but also provided a practical solution for environmental sustainability.
The recognition received by the Sanghiang Perkasa team highlights their commitment to pioneering scientific advancements that support sustainable development. Their success at ISST 2024 serves as an inspiration for future research in environmental science and industrial innovation.
